⚠️ You cannot win this by applying on the portal
- This fellowship is awarded on merit in the All India Entrance Examination (AIEE) for admission to doctoral study at an Agricultural University. Selection happens there, not here.
- The National Scholarship Portal window below is where a student who has ALREADY been selected claims the money. If you have not sat and cleared the AIEE, applying on NSP will not get you this award.
- There are 300 fellowships a year, and they are limited slots — clearing the exam is the competition.

- This is one of the largest fellowships on the National Scholarship Portal.
- The rate rises in the third year. The fellowship runs for three years and the guideline states it will in no case be extended beyond three years.
- These rates took effect from 15 October 2024.
Who is eligible
- You must have completed a Master's degree from a University recognised in India or abroad, meeting the grade thresholds below.
- Reservation for SC/ST/OBC and PH categories applies as per Government of India rules. Verifying those certificates is the Agricultural University's responsibility, not the portal's.

- Our automatic eligibility check does NOT test this one. The rule uses a different threshold for different categories, and the marks field on your profile holds a single number — so applying either threshold would give the wrong answer to somebody. Check it against your own category below.
- ⚠️ Read the two columns as separate rules. The FAQ states plainly that where grades are awarded the OGPA rule applies, and where only marks are awarded the percentage rule applies — and that an equivalence between OGPA and percentage marks 'will not be acceptable'. So you cannot convert your CGPA into a percentage to qualify.
⚠️ Three different ICAR awards run on this portal
- This one is for Ph.D students — 300 a year, at ₹37,000 to ₹42,000 per month.
- ICAR Post Graduate Scholarship (PGS) is a separate award for MASTER'S students — 600 a year, at ₹12,640 per month.
- ICAR National Talent Scholarship (NTS) is different again.
- They share one guideline document and similar names. Applying under the wrong one is a rejected application, not a redirected one.
How to apply
- Apply online on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in/ — it is the only route. Applications sent directly to the Council or the institute are not accepted.
- One Time Registration (OTR) comes first. You register once at https://scholarships.gov.in/otrapplication/ with Aadhaar-based e-KYC and get an OTR number, then use it for this and every other NSP scholarship, this year and in later years.
- There is no application fee.

- Your deadline is the first of four. The three after it belong to your institute and to the verifying officers, and the schedule is published by NSP.
- ⚠️ An application your institute never verifies is not an application. Submit early and then confirm with your institute that they have verified it.
