Who can apply
| Kind of worker | Income ceiling |
|---|---|
| Beedi worker | ₹10,000 per month |
| Mine worker — manual, unskilled, highly skilled or clerical | No wage limit; eligible whatever the wages paid |
| Mine worker — supervisory or managerial | ₹10,000 per month |
| Cine worker | ₹8,000 per month, or ₹1,00,000 where remuneration is paid as a lump sum or in instalments |
- One of your parents must be a Beedi worker, an Iron Ore / Manganese Ore / Chrome Ore mine worker, a Limestone & Dolomite mine worker, or a Cine worker, with at least six months of service. Contract and Gharkhata (home-based) workers count.
- ⚠️ The income limit is MONTHLY, and it is not the same for every kind of worker — read the table below rather than assuming an annual figure. Because the ceiling depends on which kind of worker your parent is, and one category has no ceiling at all, we have deliberately left the income rule out of the automatic eligibility check on this page.
- You must have passed the last qualifying examination in the first attempt. Students promoted to the next class are also eligible to apply.
- Studies by correspondence are not eligible. You must have taken regular admission at a recognised institution in India — general or technical education, including medical, engineering and agricultural studies.
- An income certificate issued by the Revenue Authority is among the documents required.
How to apply
- Apply online on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in/ — it is the only route. Applications sent directly to the ministry or the institute are not accepted.
- One Time Registration (OTR) comes first. You register once at https://scholarships.gov.in/otrapplication/ with Aadhaar-based e-KYC and get an OTR number, then use it for this and every other NSP scholarship, this year and in later years.
- There is no application fee.
- After you submit, your institute verifies the application, and then the district/state/ministry nodal officer verifies it. Both happen after the student deadline and neither is something you can do for them — submit early enough that they have time.
- The pre-matric half of the same scheme, for students up to class X, is a separate application on NSP and closes on 31 August 2026.
The deadlines that follow yours
| Stage | Last date |
|---|---|
| Student application | 31 October 2026 |
| Defective application verification | 15 November 2026 |
| Institute verification | 15 November 2026 |
| DNO / SNO / MNO verification | 30 November 2026 |
- Your deadline is the first of four. The three after it belong to your institute and to the verifying officers, and the schedule is published by NSP.
- ⚠️ An application your institute never verifies is not an application. Submit early and then confirm with your institute that they have verified it.
