Other important points

- Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB, and a CLAT PG 2026 score is mandatory. (page 2)
- You may not marry during the 49-week training at OTA, Chennai. (page 5)
Who can apply
- Unmarried male and unmarried female law graduates. The 10 vacancies are COMBINED for men and women — there is no separate quota for either, and the Army decides the mix by operational and administrative need.
- Age 21 to 27 years as on 1 January 2027 — born not before 2 January 2000 and not after 1 January 2006, both dates included.
- Your date of birth is taken only from the matriculation or secondary school certificate as it stands on the date you apply. A later change is neither considered nor allowed.
- LLB with at least 55% aggregate marks — either the three-year professional course after graduation, or the five-year course after Class 12.
- You must already HOLD the LLB degree and its marksheet to apply.
- You must be eligible to register as an advocate with the Bar Council of India or a State Bar Council, and your college or university must be recognised by the Bar Council of India.
- Nationality: a citizen of India, or of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam intending to settle permanently in India. The last group needs a Government of India eligibility certificate; Gorkha subjects of Nepal do not.
CLAT PG 2026 — the condition that eliminates most applicants
- You must have appeared in the CLAT PG 2026 examination, the one conducted in December 2025. Shortlisting for the SSB is on that score.
- No other CLAT PG examination counts. Marks from any other sitting are not accepted.
- The requirement applies to every candidate, including those who have qualified LLM or are studying it.
- Before the SSB you must get your CLAT PG 2026 result verified at the Selection Centre. A candidate who cannot do so is not eligible for the SSB, the candidature is cancelled, and no representation is accepted.
How you are selected
- Application → shortlisting on the CLAT PG score → SSB interview → medical → merit list → joining letter. There is no written exam.
- Shortlisting for the SSB: second week of September 2026.
- SSB: up to five days, in November or December 2026. The window to choose your SSB centre and dates stays open for two weeks in September.
- Medical standards are published on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
- DigiLocker certificates are NOT accepted at the SSB — carry originals.
- Provisional degrees, for both graduation and LLB, must be no more than six months old on 1 April 2027 — that is, issued between 1 October 2026 and 1 April 2027.
- Carry the marksheets of every year or semester, plus your Bar Council registration or a certificate from the college that the LLB course is BCI-recognised, and the university's CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate if your result is in grades.
