Selection process
- A single test (Paper I + Paper II) is held on the same date and time for all subjects. (page 3)
- Qualifying candidates receive a SET certificate for Assistant Professor eligibility in Rajasthan. (page 2)
Exam pattern
- Paper I: 100 marks, 50 MCQs — teaching/research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, general awareness. (page 2)
- Paper II: 200 marks, 100 MCQs — on the subject chosen by the candidate. (page 2)
- Total duration 3 hours (Paper I one hour, Paper II two hours) with no break. (page 2)
- Each question carries 2 marks; there is no negative marking. (page 2)
- Question medium is English and Hindi; language papers are in that language only. (page 2)

- The SET certificate is valid for Rajasthan only, and its validity is lifelong. (page 2)
- 35 subjects are offered; appear only in your post-graduation subject. (page 1)
Who can apply
- Master's degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (no rounding off) from a UGC-recognised university.
- 50% for OBC Non-Creamy Layer, SC, ST, persons with disability, and third-gender candidates.
- Candidates awaiting their final-year result may apply, and are admitted provisionally — the degree must be completed within two years of the SET result.
- There is no upper age limit.
- You must appear in the subject of your post-graduation. If your subject is not in the SET list, appear in UGC NET instead.
Examination fee
- General, SBC and Creamy Layer OBC of Rajasthan, and all out-of-state candidates: ₹1,500.
- EWS, and Non-Creamy Layer SBC/OBC of Rajasthan: ₹1,200.
- SC and ST of Rajasthan, and all PwD candidates: ₹750.
- Correction in particulars (27 July to 02 August 2026): an additional ₹400, once only. After that the form is frozen.
The exam
- Two papers of multiple-choice questions, with no break between them.
- Two marks for each correct response. Questions found incorrect or ambiguous are handled per the commission rules.
- All subjects are examined on the same date and at the same time.
- Syllabus follows UGC NET — available on ugcnetonline.in and the university website.

Who is eligible, and the marks you need
- General, Unreserved and General-EWS: at least 55 per cent in the Master's degree or equivalent, from a UGC-recognised university — WITHOUT rounding off.
- OBC non-creamy-layer, SC, ST, Persons with Disability and Third gender: at least 50 per cent, also without rounding off.
- Final-year candidates, and those whose result is awaited or delayed, may apply and are admitted PROVISIONALLY.
- A provisional candidate must complete the Master's with the required percentage within TWO YEARS of the SET result date, or the eligibility is treated as cancelled.
- Third-gender candidates get the same fee and eligibility relaxation as SC/ST/PwD, and their subject-wise cut-off is the lowest of the SC, ST, PwD, OBC-NCL and General-EWS cut-offs.
- You may appear ONLY in the subject of your post-graduation. If your subject is not on the SET list, the route is UGC NET or CSIR NET, which is held twice a year.
- There is NO upper age limit for this test.

Exam pattern and marking
- Two papers, both objective multiple choice, taken back to back with NO break between them.
- Paper I: 50 questions, 100 marks, one hour — teaching and research aptitude, reasoning, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness.
- Paper II: 100 questions, 200 marks, two hours — your chosen subject.
- Total duration 3 hours (180 minutes). Every question is compulsory.
- Two marks per correct answer, and there is NO negative marking for a wrong answer.
- Unattempted questions score nothing — so there is no reason to leave one blank.
- If a question is dropped for any reason, all candidates who sat that paper are given the two marks.
- If a question turns out to have more than one correct answer, everyone who chose one of the correct options gets the credit.
- Question papers are in English and Hindi only, except language papers, which are in that language. Where a translation is ambiguous, the English version is final.
